Newsapalooza, a benefit for SRJC’s journalism program, is part music festival and part comedy show April 3 at the North Bay Film and Art Collective.
The event features Sonoma County bands such as Fishbear, Starskate, Jungle Under Kings, Low Five, Secret Cat and Lion’s Hill, along with comedy and improv by the World’s Biggest Comedy Duo. Many of the evening’s performers are or were SRJC students.
Johnny Garlic’s will provide food, and Sift Cupcakery has donated dessert. Door prizes include a brand new high-definition flat screen television set, among other items.
Event proceeds will help the journalism department purchase multimedia equipment and send Oak Leaf staff members to the annual state conference of the Journalism Association of Community Colleges.
Doors open at 6 p.m. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door or $8 in advance, with kids 12 and under free. The North Bay Film and Art Collective is at 99 Sixth Street, at Wilson in Santa Rosa.
